Tegan & Will! Where do I start! Such an awesome couple. Both relaxed, easy going, and wonderful lovely people.
Back in January at the start of this Tegan & Will wanted to know some more details about my service.
We caught up at the Coffee Club, and went through some initial planning details & then another chat later in the year closer towards their wedding date for some final questions & planning for their day. Tangalooma Island is located in Moreton Island, is about a 1-1.5 hour boat ride from Brisbane (Fisherman’s Island). The Moreton Island National Park covers around 98% of the island with White sandy beaches AND is such a beautiful location for their Wedding Ceremony & Wedding Reception.
There was a lot of logistics & planning involved,
- Maps/Zone Areas
- Permits & Passes
- High Tides/Low Tides
- Start Times/Finish Times
- Wet Weather
… the list goes on.
so as their Wedding MC I coordinated with everyone on the day to make sure everything was perfect. We texted each other regularly and messaged quite a bit to make sure we all know what everyone had to do. Lucky for me I always have a Run Sheet with everything that I need to know on it! Even when there isn’t one.
With the 4WD packed & ready to go – I headed over on Friday morning arriving about 9:30/10:00am off the boat so that I could get there nice and early and help out with the Wedding rehearsal later in the afternoon, and also worked with Dylan (a friend of Tegan) who was singing their Walking down the Isle song – so we needed to make sure he could setup his Guitar into my Speaker/PA System as well as use my microphone.
After the Wedding Rehearsal was all done and ticked off – I headed back to my campsite to get some rest for the big day.
Tegan & Will’s Wedding Day was a little nerve racking at first because we were keeping our fingers & toes crossed that it wasn’t going to rain – and we were very lucky to avoid the rain for the afternoon as we had to consider a number of different scenarios if it was going to rain. I stayed in touch with the Lois the celebrant, and also the Venue/Event Coordinator to find out if it was going ahead (the Ceremony) or going to be at the alternative location – and the thumbs up was given! Thank you to the weather gods!
The Ceremony was just beautiful, the sun was shining, guests were arriving. Will looked ever so cool and relaxed as he waited for Tegan to arrive, and Dylan was standing by ready to start singing. Checking in with the Bridesmaids & Tegan that they were ready to go – she made her way down the isle and not long after became married! After the ceremony I helped out with some photos and gathering people and then headed off to the reception to prepare for the remainder of the night.
Guests started making their way into the room at about 4:00-5:00pm and it was perfect timing because the storm started to follow and next thing it was pouring down rain! With guests seated at about 6:00pm it was time to welcome in the Bridal Party and the Bride & Groom into the room.
After a fun welcome speech and some introductions – entrees started to be served, followed by mains.
The rest of the night was lots of fun – with a variety of speeches from Will & Tegan’s family, plus some other few surprises along the way to make it fun – and then it wasn’t long until Dylan sang a beautiful version of Ed Sheeran’s – Teneriffe for the Bridal Waltz. I even had to hold the microphone for Dylan as he sang! He was actually really good, he sang quite a few songs as everyone kept shouting out 1 more, 1 more.
After lots of dancing, (with some funky disco moves from a few people) the night came to an end about 11:00pm and then I packed up my gear into the Golf Buggy and drove back home to the campsite up at Castaways – which is about 20minute’s drive via the Beach/Inland Track from the Wedding Reception at Tangalooma.
