Chris & Oksana were such a sweet couple, and I really enjoyed working with both of them – both leading up to their wedding, and on the actual day as well. After sitting down with them and talking about my services in more detail – and what I do – they decided that I would be the right fit for them as their Wedding DJ & MC at the Botanical Gardens Cafe – on the night.
To the both of them, Family are very important – and additionally Oksana’s parents were flying in from Russia for her wedding day, so Chris really wanted to make them feel welcome – and asked if I could incorporate this on the night.
So….. I went out and got Russian tutoring so that I could welcome Oksana’s parents in their native language. Which, although challenging, was so much fun. (I have alot more appreciation of the russian language!)
Chris & Oksana wanted alot of fun on their wedding night, they wanted everyone to just relax, have fun, and enjoy all the festivities. I learnt all about when Oksana’s friends & family shout out aloud – saying “GORKA!” “GORKA!” “GORKA!” until the bride and groom kiss. Gorka means bitter, and the idea is that the world is bitter until the bride and groom kiss and make things sweet again….
Anyway – so there was alot to organise for this wedding!
Chris had arranged for Oksana’s family overseas to do some videos, which they filmed and downloaded – and I arranged to have this played during speeches for him – and also arranged for it to be translated as well so others could understand it in English.
I also arranged for a few activities/games throughout the night to just to continue with their ‘fun/themed’ wedding and get some of the family members involved too – which actually made for some REALLY surprising laughs. Guests also enjoyed the Photobooth there on the night as well, getting some great funny & silly photos with all the props everywhere.
Jess from Jess Jackson Photography was also there on the night getting alot of great pictures of not just the venue, but also the guests laughing and enjoying themselves all night. She was a very easy going photographer who clearly enjoys what she does and did an amazing job – I can’t wait to see her photos that she took!
Chris & Oksana also had booked the Dancing on the Clouds package, which the guests were really amazed to watch them have their First Dance on the Dance Floor outside – which just looked absolutely beautiful!
I was really amazed to receive a email from Chris & Oksana the next day saying thanks for all the support, and effort they received while being their Wedding DJ & MC on the night.
